  • Mentor Requirements

A mentor is an experienced tradesperson that helps guide students through the modules the day of the camp. Each camp requires at least six mentors, 1 mentor for every 2 students, to guide students throughout the GRIT Camp.
  • Will you be able to recruit at least (6) six experienced tradespeople to become GRIT mentors and help guide students through the modules the day of the camp?*
  • Will you ensure that all experienced tradespeople complete the free online GRIT Mentor training course and become certified GRIT Mentors before your camp date is confirmed?*
  • Do you understand that all GRIT Mentors must pass a standard background check, provided by GRIT Foundation, before attending a GRIT Camp?*
  • Host Requirements

  • As the host, are you willing to also take the online GRIT Mentor training course?*
  • Are you willing to review the GRIT Camp Guide and all other relevant host materials?*
  • Are you prepared to help recruit students (ages 12-17) with a maximum of 16 students per GRIT Camp from your community or through school/partner networks?*
  • Do you understand GRIT Camps are focused on community impact rather than sales or recruitment?*
  • Location Requirements

  • Do you have access to a safe, open workspace (preferably outdoors or in a warehouse/shop) with tables, tools, and room to set up 6-8 hands-on activity stations?*
  • Are you willing to supply or source commonly used tools and materials (list provided by GRIT) for the modules, with GRIT foundation supplying supplemental items as needed?*
  • Staff Requirements

  • Do you have the staff support to help with event logistics such as sign-ups, PPE distribution, and setup/teardown?*
  • Are you able to recruit a "Host Facilitator"- A point of contact who supports the host throughout the planning process including but not limited to purchasing materials, organizing logistics, assisting with recruiting mentors and participants, and coordinating event details?*
  • Are GRIT Camps the best fit?

If you believe many of these requirements will be difficult for your particular set up please consider hosting a GRIT Workshop instead, which tend to be more accessible to host. We are very grateful for all GRIT hosts. Contact us at leilani@thegritfoundation.com or abby@thegritfoundation.com to learn more.
